Every month we choose a book about a warrior woman and meet to discuss the elements of the book that inspire us as storytellers. Each month we select a group facilitator responsible for questions to help guide group discussions looking at different elements, and each woman is encouraged to write throughout the month when certain techniques, thoughts, symbolism, etc. speak to them - which they can bring and share with the group. This is a beautiful way for us to stay connected after Operation Legacy, reach more women in the organization, and become better writers by becoming better readers. A light dinner is provided, along with FREE and FUN child programming offered by Kentucky Center for the Arts - Arts in Healing Program! Quarterly Membership Meetings - The membership meets to discuss upcoming events and schedule sisterhood meetups. A guest speaker is invited to speak on a topic of
interest while the members share a potluck
style dinner.Monthly Sisterhood Meetups - The membership meets in the community every month for various activities: building sisterhood, social networking/meeting new people, to enjoy different experiences and give back to the community.Creating Sisterhood Art Workshop - One Satruday a month 10:00am-3:00pm. An afternoon of sisterhood and creating! Our members only Art Workshop is where we tell our stories and creatively express ourselves through different mediums in art. We have instruction lead projects by artists from Kentucky Center for the Arts - Arts in Healing Program teaching us new techniques of expression. Operation Legacy - Offered twice a year. Spring & Fall A week-end retreat for military women to learn the art and craft of storytelling in a serene and safe space. During the weekend we will explore different writing techniques, prompts, and art mediums in a uniquely
designed program by military women. Together we will learn how to tell our stories in ways that are validating and empowering, while sharing a weekend of sisterhood. The program begins Friday evening at 6:00pm and ends Sunday at 11:00am. Each Operation Legacy has a special topic, with a guest speaker/facilitator invited to our retreat. All
participants are required to spend the entire weekend. Registration required. Operation Harmony - Offered twice a year. Summer & Winter. We bring together local partners to create a safe and healing environment for military
women to come experience wellness opportunities they may have not previously been aware of. We recognize the path to mind, heart & body wellness does not look the same for any two veterans, and because we also recognize services geared specifically to women veterans are still very limited, we try to fill the gaps where they currently exist
in honor of the differences in each woman
We present women’s health experts from both the VA and the community, i.e., acupuncture, reflexology, massage therapy, yoga, healthy food choices, Reiki, meditation, essential oil education and multiple art forms as ways to explore complimentary methods we can add to our healing stories. This is a day of self-care, wellness, relaxation, sisterhood and discovery.
